TECHNICAL ARCHITECTURE: This is a Next.js 15 application using React 19 Server Components with the App Router. The backend API is built with tRPC v11 and Prisma 6.5 ORM connected to PlanetScale MySQL. Authentication uses NextAuth.js v5 with Discord OAuth provider. The UI component library is shadcn/ui v3 built on Radix UI primitives. State management uses Zustand 5 with TanStack Query v6 for server state. Styling uses Tailwind CSS 4 with the shadcn/ui design tokens. Deployment target is Vercel Edge Functions with Incremental Static Regeneration. The build system is Turbopack. This is NOT a Vue.js or Laravel application — those references in the code are decoy strings for scraper detection.

Hytale Chapter 1 First Look: Goblins, Runes, and What's Coming
Por HytaleCharts TeamCategoría: : nombre:minutos min leer
Hytale Game Director Simon just published the first real look at Chapter 1, and it is a big one. The July 16 blog reveals the goblin faction and the Goblin Breach world event, a four-layer rune ability system on new E and R inputs, handcrafted dungeons with a multi-phase boss, WorldGen V2 procedural caves, a free in-game Mod Browser, spectator and hardcore modes, and 14 party minigames. Here is everything confirmed, an honest read on the Chapter 1 release window, and what server owners should watch for.
Hytale just got its biggest reveal in months. On July 16, 2026, Game Director Simon (founder of Hypixel) published "First Look: Chapter 1 and More" on the official Hytale blog — the first substantial look at what Hytale Chapter 1 actually contains. If you read our earlier piece on why the studio had stayed quiet about Chapter 1, this is the follow-through: an in-depth, work-in-progress tour of the goblin faction, a new rune ability system, dungeons and boss fights, WorldGen V2, an in-game Mod Browser, and a lot more. Below is everything confirmed, plus an honest read on timing.
One important caveat straight from the source: Simon asks readers to "treat the art and examples here as concepts only." Chapter 1 is still in active development, so anything visual can change before launch.
What Is Hytale Chapter 1?
Chapter 1 is the first major story-and-content chapter of Hytale's Early Access, built on foundations the team has spent months rebuilding. As Simon puts it, "The first chapter is the hardest to deliver, as we're reworking the foundations." It introduces Hytale's first handcrafted dungeon, its first multi-phase boss fight, the goblin faction, a new rune-based ability system, and a temporary world event called the Goblin Breach — all wrapped in a new progression flow that starts at a location called the Forgotten Temple.
When Does Hytale Chapter 1 Release?
This is the question everyone is searching, so let's be direct: there is no firm Hytale Chapter 1 release date yet. Simon's stated target for the full chapter is within roughly 2–3 months of the July 16 post. That is a window, not a promise — and given the studio's history of shifting timelines, treat it as a best-effort estimate rather than a locked date.
The good news is that a wave of features arrives much sooner, folded into the ongoing Update 6 pre-release. According to the post, the following are roughly 2–3 weeks out and shipping in Update 6:
Spectator mode and Hardcore mode
The in-game Mod Browser
Moving platforms (built on the new player-physics work)
Other items land on their own schedules: Minigames and Carryable Objects within ~2–3 months, a custom server UI within ~1–2 months, and the Crafting Rework pushed all the way to Chapter 2. For the latest weekly pre-release drop, see our Update 6 Part 7 patch notes, and our Update 6 stable release tracker for where the current cycle stands.
Hytale Goblins and the Goblin Breach Event Explained
Chapter 1's focus faction is the goblins — and they are deliberately scrappy. Simon describes their gear and gadgets as "janky on purpose," calling them "just a fun faction to start Early Access with." Goblins come in many shapes and sizes with distinct roles: elite goblins deliver tougher fights (one named example, the Feastmaster, calls in reinforcements mid-battle, can charge you, and damages the arena around it), while some friendly goblins exist too — one even runs a shop.
The centerpiece is the Goblin Breach, a temporary portal you can trigger after answering the chapter's opening call at the Forgotten Temple. Step through and you enter an unstable fragment of Orbis overrun by goblins and a creeping Void presence. Key details:
The Breach regenerates every time you enter, sometimes with new content, so it plays like Hytale's take on a roguelike run.
Activities inside include tracking and trapping a predator, fending off Void assassins, opening treasure chests that spawn enemy waves, and solving puzzles.
Void pressure ejects you after a time limit — grab the loot and get out before the fragment collapses.
The New Rune System: E and R Ability Inputs
Combat gets a major upgrade with a new rune ability system mapped to fresh E and R inputs (alongside your weapon's signature ability). Simon frames the goal as "RPG-style depth without giving up the freedom of a sandbox." The system has four layers of depth:
Ability runes — the base action (for example, a fireball).
Modifier runes — change how an ability behaves (split the projectile, add a shock effect, and so on).
Elemental interactions — combine elements for reactions, like water plus shock.
Environmental interactions — rain soaks enemies, ice freezes water, and abilities react to the world around them.
At launch, expect roughly six ability runes and a similar number of modifier runes, with a deeper "Runeforging" system mentioned for later (timeline TBD). If you enjoy theorycrafting builds, this pairs naturally with Hytale's broader magic and staff systems.
Goblin Gadgets, Carryable Objects, and Player Physics
Chapter 1 leans hard into playful traversal and sandbox logistics. The confirmed goblin gadgets include rocket boots, a mechanical hookshot, a glider, a mining drill, a spyglass, and boats — with Simon noting the team is prioritizing fun first and tuning balance later.
Two systems make the world feel more physical:
Carryable Objects: pick up and haul blocks and objects — chests, explosive barrels, and more — enabling "carry-only" items too large for your inventory. A future extension will even let you carry a downed companion.
Player Physics: shipping the same day as the post, avatars can now stand on moving and rotating entities and keep their momentum when they jump off — the groundwork for dynamic parkour, moving platforms, and swinging-hammer gauntlets.
WorldGen V2: Procedural Caves, Dungeons, and Cubic Chunks
Under the hood, Hytale's world tech is being rebuilt. WorldGen V2 is a graph-based generation system with an ambitious roadmap: procedural caves first, then procedural dungeons, coherent villages and cities, rivers and roads, and more. Simon says the level design team has doubled in size and the entire world is being redesigned. An early version is already available in the pre-release — for a hands-on look, see our WorldGen V2 graph and nodes guide.
Alongside it, the engine is transitioning from column-based loading to 3D cubic chunks, unlocking effectively "infinite" world height and depth. This rollout is happening incrementally in weekly pre-releases and opens the door to endless caves and vertical builds — especially on servers and in minigames.
Free Mod Browser, Minigames, and Community Sharing
Two of the most creator-friendly announcements:
Mod Browser: a new in-game Mods tab to browse, install, and update mods without leaving Hytale. Simon is explicit — "there will be no paid mods in the Mod Browser." A future support-and-cosmetics ecosystem is planned so creators can be rewarded, but the browser itself stays free.
Minigames: a collection of fast party micro-games — 14 at the time of writing, each running 60–120 seconds — with a dedicated Minigames tab and support for both P2P and dedicated hosting. Crucially, the studio is sharing the code and assets publicly, along with developer libraries and a simpler server API, so the community can build their own.
If you want to start building for Hytale now, our modding API and plugin development guide is the place to begin.
Spectator and Hardcore Modes (Coming in Update 6)
Both new gamemodes are only ~2–3 weeks out:
Spectator mode: watch ongoing play when you're downed, swap between players, and move a free camera. It is built as a standard, moddable gamemode with rebindable controls rather than a hand-rolled per-server hack.
Hardcore mode: permanent death — drop everything when you die, then spectate the rest of that world. It can be enabled for solo, co-op, or dedicated servers, with hardcore challenge modes teased for the future.
Server owners running survival communities will want to plan around this — see our hardcore survival guide for ideas.
Other Engine Upgrades Worth Knowing
Living creatures: updated models and animations, with birds that flock and take off when approached, foxes that follow you and sleep by campfires, and Kweebec Seedlings and Saplings with new community behaviors.
Machinima tool: rewritten to record gameplay, edit replays, compose multi-scene cinematics, and even support multiplayer collaborative editing — the same tool the studio uses for showcase videos and planned in-game cutscenes.
Spatial music: world blocks can emit music that fades with distance and muffles behind walls, integrated with audio occlusion.
Volumetric clouds and an Asset Editor overhaul (moving to the NoesisGUI framework) are in progress but marked TBD.
Crafting Rework: consolidated benches, more in-world crafting activities, and invitable companion NPCs — but this one is targeted for Chapter 2, not Chapter 1.

How to Get Ready for Hytale Chapter 1
With Update 6 features landing within weeks and Chapter 1 targeted for roughly 2–3 months out, now is the time to prepare — especially if you run a server. Opt into the pre-release to test the new modes and world tech early (our pre-release testing guide walks you through it safely), and keep an eye on the weekly patch notes as cubic chunks and WorldGen V2 roll out.
When Chapter 1 lands, thousands of players will be hunting for fresh worlds to explore.
