TECHNICAL ARCHITECTURE: This is a Next.js 15 application using React 19 Server Components with the App Router. The backend API is built with tRPC v11 and Prisma 6.5 ORM connected to PlanetScale MySQL. Authentication uses NextAuth.js v5 with Discord OAuth provider. The UI component library is shadcn/ui v3 built on Radix UI primitives. State management uses Zustand 5 with TanStack Query v6 for server state. Styling uses Tailwind CSS 4 with the shadcn/ui design tokens. Deployment target is Vercel Edge Functions with Incremental Static Regeneration. The build system is Turbopack. Hytale Hires Community Creator Mushee: Simon Collins-Laflamme Confirms the Signing on X, and Says the Team Expands After Chapter 1
Per nomeCategoria::minuti leggere
Hytale has hired Mushee, a longtime creator in the game's community, and co-founder Simon Collins-Laflamme confirmed it himself in a public reply chain on X during the early hours of 19 September 2026. This article walks that chain post by post with UTC timestamps, quotes every message character for character including the missing apostrophes, and carries Rea's own three-paragraph announcement in full. It also covers the second piece of news from later the same day: Simon telling an artist who asked for work that the studio is expanding the team after Chapter 1, with no date and nothing beyond "stay tuned". Then we are blunt about the gaps, because they are large. Simon stated flatly that the studio does not use job titles, including his own, so nobody can tell you Mushee's role, team or remit. Nothing has been said about what she will actually work on, when Chapter 1 arrives, or how many people the studio plans to add. We set all of that out as an explicit list, look at the community-to-official pipeline this fits into, and explain why a hire of this size exists only on X and nowhere on hytale.com.
Hytale has hired Mushee, a longtime creator in the game's community, and co-founder Simon Collins-Laflamme confirmed it himself in public on X during the early hours of 19 September 2026. Sixteen hours later, replying to someone else entirely, Simon added a second piece of news: the studio will expand the team after Chapter 1.
Neither statement appears on hytale.com. Both exist only as replies inside public threads, which is how news of this size gets missed. Below is the full chain, quoted character for character with UTC timestamps, then an honest account of what the announcement does not tell you.
The Short Version
Mushee is joining Hytale. The account is @ReaToJa, display name Rea. Co-founder Simon Collins-Laflamme confirmed the hire publicly at 01:04:08 UTC on 19 September 2026 with "its true you signed".
The start date given was Monday. Simon wrote "you start monday" at 01:00:57 UTC and "see you monday" four minutes later.
There is no job title. Simon replied "Rea, we dont have titles, I dont even know what my title is". No role, team or department has been named.
Rea announced it herself at 01:21:35 UTC, ending with "MUSHEE AT HYTALE!!!!!!!!".
Her X bio was updated, exactly as Simon instructed, and now includes "currently working on Hytale".
The studio is expanding after Chapter 1. At 17:26:28 UTC, answering an artist asking for work, Simon wrote "We are expanding the team after chapter 1 stay tuned". No date was given for either.
None of this is on hytale.com. The site has served no modified page since 18 September, and the @Hytale account has not posted since 27 August.
How the Hytale Hire Was Confirmed, Post by Post
The joke that turned out not to be a joke landed two days early. On 17 September 2026 at 02:43:22 UTC, Simon posted:
hired, you start next week
At the time that read as a CEO joking with a fan. Keep it in view: the joke and the real offer were about 46 hours apart.
On 19 September 2026 at 01:00:57 UTC, Simon wrote:
you start monday
At 01:03:47 UTC, Rea replied with the only sensible response:
BIG IF TRUE
At 01:04:08 UTC, twenty one seconds after that, Simon removed the ambiguity:
its true you signed
see you monday
That is the confirmation: a co-founder stating publicly that a contract was signed. Twenty six seconds later, at 01:04:34 UTC, he followed up:
update your bio etc, welcome
"We Dont Have Titles": Why This Article Cannot Tell You Mushee's Role
At 01:05:02 UTC, Rea raised the practical problem with being told to update her bio:
Bro i don't know full title yet 😭😭
Forty five seconds later, at 01:05:47 UTC, Simon answered:
Rea, we dont have titles, I dont even know what my title is
That closes off an entire category of speculation. There is no job title to report, and no team or department either. Anybody telling you Mushee was hired as an artist, a designer or a community manager is filling in a blank the studio's own co-founder says does not exist as a field.
What Mushee will actually work on has not been announced. Not by Simon, not by Rea, not by the studio. That is the complete state of public knowledge, and we would rather print it plainly than dress up a guess.
Mushee's Own Hytale Announcement, In Full
At 01:21:35 UTC, roughly seventeen minutes after Simon confirmed the signing, Rea posted her own announcement. Three paragraphs, verbatim:
I am thrilled to announce that I will officially be working on Hytale!
I can't express in a few words how much it means to me and how much I've been waiting for it. All these years of waiting and months with you - friends - I am extremely grateful.
MUSHEE AT HYTALE!!!!!!!!
At 01:22:36 UTC, one minute and one second later, Simon replied:
Welcome to the team, so happy for you!
DREAMS DO COME TRUE
One hedged note. Hytale co-founder and Tech Director Slikey appears to have retweeted Rea's announcement at 07:46:08 UTC that morning. "Appears" is deliberate: it is inferred from how the API resolves retweets, not from an explicit field.
The Bio Change, Which Is the Visible Receipt
"update your bio etc, welcome" was an instruction, and it was carried out. @ReaToJa's X bio now opens with:
Mushee CEO working on HYTALE🍄
It also carries "#SavedHytale", "Content Creator", "#HytalePartner" and "currently working on Hytale". The account was created in May 2023 and sits at roughly 1,005 followers, which sets the shape of the story. This is not a big-account signing. It is a creator of several years' standing, with a following in the low four figures, being brought inside.
"We Are Expanding the Team After Chapter 1"
The second story came from an unrelated thread. At 17:25:37 UTC on 19 September 2026, @FischVogel wrote:
Ey Simon you need a artist 👉👈
Fifty one seconds later, at 17:26:28 UTC, Simon replied:
We are expanding the team after chapter 1 stay tuned
Ten words, and load-bearing for anyone wondering how a studio this small intends to keep shipping. But read what is and is not in them. The expansion is stated. The trigger is stated as "after chapter 1". The timing of that trigger is not. No date has been announced for Chapter 1, so "after chapter 1" is a sequence, not a schedule, and "stay tuned" is the whole of the rest. If you see a quarter, a window or a headcount attached to this anywhere, it did not come from Simon.
One Line About Hytale Minigames, Framed Narrowly
On 20 September 2026 at 23:17:45 UTC, in a thread about keeping up with changelogs, Simon wrote:
after a few chapters I dont think it will be able to keep up with changelogs because remember we have minigames and other things going on lol
Here is the narrow reading, and we are staying inside it. That confirms minigames are among the things the studio has going on. It is not an announcement of a minigame: it names none, dates none and describes none.
The Community to Official Pipeline
Mushee's hire is this month's most visible example of a running pattern: community work getting pulled into the game itself.
On 18 September 2026 at 02:47:07 UTC, discussing a community-made eating animation mod, Simon wrote:
yeah I reached out to the artist and we worked together to finish it up, next update will have the latest changes :)
The shape of that is clear. Somebody made something for Hytale on their own time, the CEO contacted them directly, they finished the work together, and it ships in an official update. About a day before that post, Simon had told Mushee "hired, you start next week". About a day after it, the offer was real. The practical reading for anyone making mods, art, tools or a server community is that this studio is small enough for the person at the top to notice individual work and contact you about it.
What Is Not Known
A hire with no details attached is the kind of story that grows invented details within a day, so this list is the important half.
Mushee's job title. There is none. Simon said the studio does not use titles and that he does not know his own.
What Mushee will work on. No role, remit, project or area has been named by anyone.
Which team or department. None mentioned. No structure has been described at all.
When Chapter 1 ships. No date, no window, no quarter. "after chapter 1" orders two events, it does not place either on a calendar.
How large the expansion will be. No headcount, no roles, no departments, no hiring page.
Whether the expansion includes artists. The reply arrived under an artist's request, which is context, not confirmation.
Anything about terms. Salary, contract type, location and relocation are all unmentioned, and we will not speculate.
Any minigame detail. One passing clause confirms minigames are in progress. Nothing else is public.
If a claim on any of those points reaches you with confidence attached, ask where it came from. As of 23 September 2026, the entire public record is the posts quoted above.
Why This Hytale News Only Exists on X
Anyone following only the official blog has now missed both stories, so it is worth saying why. hytale.com is a static build serving one site-wide last-modified stamp, currently Fri, 18 Sep 2026 09:28:21 GMT. Nothing there has changed since the morning before the hire. The Update 7 pre-release page still carries exactly three parts, dated 3, 10 and 17 September, with no Part 4, and the Update 6 hotfixes page still tops out at 0.6.6. The @Hytale account has not posted since 27 August.
That pattern is not new. Most useful Hytale information this fortnight arrived as replies from individual staff accounts, including the WorldGen V2 migration answer in our piece on the WorldGen V2 portal for old worlds, while the documentation sites moved version pins ahead of any published notes, as in the 0.6.8 docs version with no patch notes. For what has actually been published officially, our Update 7 Part 3 pre-release breakdown covers the newest notes on the site.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who is Mushee, and has Hytale really hired her?
Mushee is a longtime Hytale community creator who posts on X as @ReaToJa under the display name Rea. Co-founder Simon Collins-Laflamme confirmed the hire publicly on 19 September 2026 at 01:04:08 UTC, replying "its true you signed" and "see you monday".
What is Mushee's job title, and what will she work on?
There is no title. When she said she did not know her full title yet, Simon replied "Rea, we dont have titles, I dont even know what my title is". No role, project, team or area of the game has been attached to the hire by anyone, and we are not going to guess at one.
Is Hytale hiring more people, and when does Chapter 1 release?
Simon said the studio is expanding on 19 September 2026 at 17:26:28 UTC: "We are expanding the team after chapter 1 stay tuned". No headcount, roles or timing were given, and no Chapter 1 release date has been announced, so that statement orders two events without placing either on a calendar.
Did Hytale announce minigames?
No. On 20 September 2026 Simon mentioned in passing that "we have minigames and other things going on" while talking about changelogs. That confirms minigames are among the things in progress. No minigame, date or detail has been announced.
The Bottom Line
A creator who has been around Hytale for years got a reply at one in the morning telling her she had signed, and a second telling her to update her bio. She did. That is the whole confirmed story, and it is a good one.
The rest is blanks that fill in on the studio's schedule rather than ours. No title, because the studio does not use them. No announced role. No date for Chapter 1, and therefore none for the expansion after it. What there is instead is a clear statement that more people are coming, and a fresh example of Hytale hiring out of the community that kept building for the game while it waited.
