The Hytale Gobliterator Challenge Has Been Won: Taf The Penguin Takes the $15,000 About 30 Hours After Chapter 1 Unlocked, and the Official Rules Show the Hard Mode Restrictions Only Ever Applied to the Boss Chamber

Taf the penguin has won Simon Collins-Laflamme's $15,000 Hytale Gobliterator challenge. The win post went up on 13 October 2026 at 20:41:32 UTC and reads, in full, "Congrats @Taf_The_Penguin on winning $15,000 for completing my hardcore challenge!" The official site at chapter1.hytalemodding.dev now shows "Submissions are now closed." and names "Taf the penguin" as the winner. Chapter 1 unlocked at 14:00 UTC on 12 October, which puts 30 hours and 41 minutes between the hytale chapter 1 boss becoming publicly reachable and the money being awarded. This article corrects our own 7 October piece, which correctly said at the time that no gobliterator bounty winner could exist because hard mode was not in a public build, and it settles the biggest misreading of the gobliterator hard mode terms: the official rules page splits the run into Pre-Dungeon, Dungeon and Boss Chamber phases, and the no-armor, no-potion, iron-weapons-only restrictions apply only to the third. We also print the six official rules verbatim and say plainly what we have not verified, including that no completion time is published anywhere and that a prize being awarded is not the same as a prize being paid.

It has been won. On 13 October 2026 at 20:41:32 UTC, Hytale co-founder Simon Collins-Laflamme posted the result of his $15,000 Gobliterator challenge. The post is one sentence long, and this is the whole of it: Congrats @Taf_The_Penguin on winning $15,000 for completing my hardcore challenge! It comes from @Simon_Hypixel, display name "Simon", as a quote post of his own 24 September bounty post, and carried 3,452 likes and 59,382 views when we read it. The official challenge site at chapter1.hytalemodding.dev matches: it now reads "Submissions are now closed." with its winner field set to "Taf the penguin". That is the entire published record of the result: two sources, one sentence, one name. Everything below is the terms, the timeline and what the rules actually said. First, Our Correction: We Said No Gobliterator Bounty Winner Could Exist Yet On 7 October we published a piece setting out the exact terms of the $15,000 bounty, and it contained this paragraph, verbatim: The practical consequence: every condition in the list below is currently theoretical. No VOD exists. No claim has been made. No winner has been named. Any post or video telling you somebody has won $15,000 for killing the Gobliterator is describing something that could not have happened in a public build. That was correct when we wrote it. The Gobliterator's hard mode was not in any public build on 7 October, which we had reported separately. Chapter 1 shipped on 12 October and the bounty was claimed on 13 October. A claim has been made and a winner named, so that paragraph no longer describes the world. Read the 7 October piece as the terms and this one as the result. About 30 Hours From Launch to Claim on the Hytale $15,000 Challenge Chapter 1 unlocked on 12 October 2026 at 14:00 UTC, with the official @Hytale "AVAILABLE NOW" post going up at 14:20:32 UTC, as covered in our launch day piece. Simon's win post is stamped 13 October at 20:41:32 UTC. The gap is 30 hours and 41 minutes, which we are not going to round into something more dramatic. Call it roughly 30 hours from the content becoming publicly playable to the prize being awarded. That matters because of when the terms were set. Simon posted the bounty on 24 September, nearly three weeks before anybody outside the studio could reach the fight, against a boss no member of the public had fought. A day and a quarter of public availability later, somebody had met every condition. We are not going to characterise how the community received the terms in September, because we did not measure it. The Near-Miss Post, 18 Hours Before the Hytale Hardcore Challenge Fell The best colour in this story is a post Simon made roughly 18 hours earlier, on 13 October at 02:47:50 UTC. It read, in full: These two players got VERY close to winning my $15k challenge! Hardcore and hard mode, no armor, no consumables with iron weapons on the boss! https://www.twitch.tv/tafthepenguin https://www.twitch.tv/gnormaluser I’m posting so they crumble under pressure! It carried 2,287 likes and 86,671 views, more than the win post had when we read it. Be precise about what it says. It names two Twitch channels, tafthepenguin and gnormaluser, as both having got "VERY close" before anyone had won. It does not rank them, name a runner-up or say who was ahead. Describing the second channel as finishing second adds something the source does not contain. Note also how Simon summarises his own rules there: "no armor, no consumables with iron weapons on the boss". That phrase is the key to the next section. The Gobliterator Hard Mode Restrictions Only Ever Applied to the Boss Chamber This is the most useful thing in this article, and it corrects the general understanding of the challenge rather than any single outlet. Simon's original bounty post read as one flat list of conditions: I'll donate $15,000 to the first streamer who kills the Gobliterator boss in hard mode, no armor, no potion, no glitch, in hardcore mode (you can use iron weapons available in Exploration Mode). It must be streamed so we can watch the VOD; don't cheat, bro. Read cold, that sounds like a whole-run restriction: no armor at any point, no potions at any point, iron weapons from world creation onwards. The post never says which part of the run the conditions attach to, so that reading was available to anyone who only had the post to go on. The official rules page settles it. The run is split into three phases, and the restrictions live in the third only: ItemPhase I Pre DungeonPhase II DungeonPhase III Boss Chamber ArmorAllowedAllowedNot allowed WeaponsAllowedAllowedIron Tier Only* FoodAllowedAllowedNot allowed PotionsAllowedAllowedNot allowed RunesAllowedAllowedNot allowed GadgetsAllowedAllowedRocket Boots Only The footnote reads: "*Weapons Allowed: Iron Sword, Iron Battleaxe, Iron Daggers, Iron Mace". One rule does span the whole attempt: "No Glitches Allowed. This rule applies to every phase." Each phase carries a one-line description. Phase I: "Prepare for the challenge ahead before entering the dungeon." Phase II: "Fight your way through the dungeon with the tools you bring." Phase III: "Face the final challenge with only what the rules allow." So a legal run is: gear up, clear the dungeon, then strip for the boss. That is a different challenge from the one people thought was on offer, and still a hardcore one-life world with a hard mode boss fight at the end of it. Our hardcore mode guide covers how to enable the mode and what one life costs you. The runes exclusion will sting most, since Chapter 1's Runestones are the main source of active abilities: our breakdown of the Ability and Modifier rune system covers what you give up at the chamber door. The Six Official Rules, Verbatim The site publishes six numbered rules. We quote rather than paraphrase, because wording is the point of a verification-based contest: Live Stream Required. "You must stream your full game screen, including audio from world creation till the Boss's defeat. You are required to submit a VOD of the live stream to verify your submission." No Mods or Cheats. "You are not allowed to use any mods or cheats during the run. All gameplay must be performed using only the base game and its official content." No Glitching or Exploits. "You are not allowed to use any glitches or exploits to gain an unfair advantage." Solo Run. "The run must be completed in a singleplayer one-life hardcore world with no assistance from other players." Phase Completion. "You must complete the Pre-Dungeon, Dungeon, and Boss Room phases to submit your entry." Boss Phase Completion. "No armor & gadgets (rocket boots allowed). Iron tier weapons only (no bows). No potions. No rune abilities. No food." Two details are easy to miss. The stream requirement runs "from world creation till the Boss's defeat", so the whole world is part of the submission. And rule six is the only place "no bows" appears in writing. Who Actually Ran the Hytale Gobliterator Challenge The page describes itself twice: "Funded by Hypixel Studios in collaboration with HytaleModding." at the top, and "Hosted by HytaleModding" / "Funded by Hypixel Studios" in the footer. Studio money, community administration. The figure comes from the page's intro line, "First to defeat the Gobliterator boss in Hard Mode with intense restrictions wins $15,000!", and from Simon's posts. Worth saying because the "Winner Prize" figure elsewhere renders as an animated digit reel, a slot-machine style counter, so there is no clean static number in that part of the markup. The intro line and the posts agree, so the number is not in doubt. If you are coming to Chapter 1 now and cannot get in to try any of this, Hytale shipped a hotfix the same day the bounty was claimed: see our write-up of hotfix 0.7.1. What We Have Not Verified In the interest of being straight with you, here is what this article does not establish. No completion time or run length is published. Not on the challenge site, not in Simon's posts. The site publishes a name and nothing resembling a time, so any duration you see attached to this run came from somewhere else. We have not watched the VOD. Rule 1 requires one and we have no reason to doubt it was submitted, but we have not seen it, and we do not know when the run itself took place, only when the result was posted. Awarded is not the same as paid. Simon's post congratulates the winner on "winning $15,000". It does not confirm a transfer, and neither does the site. This is a prize announced, not money received. We found no independent reporting of the result. As of publication our searches turned up no coverage of this win outside the two primary sources, so there is no second account to check against. We cannot confirm whether anyone else submitted a run. "Submissions are now closed." tells us the contest is over. It does not say how many entries arrived, were verified or were rejected. We are not telling you how to beat the Gobliterator. We have not played the fight, and every strategy guide, gear list and recipe circulating for it is unverified by us. The short version: a $15,000 prize many called unwinnable was claimed inside the first day and a half of Chapter 1 being playable, by a streamer Simon had publicly tried to psych out 18 hours earlier.
