Hytale World Seeds: There Is No Seed Field in the World Creation Menu, the Seed Lives in config.json, and the Two Guides Ranking for This Question Give Opposite Answers

How to set a Hytale world seed, where to find one, and why no seed map or seed viewer exists yet. Hytale has no seed input in the world creation screen, which is the single fact most guides get wrong: one page ranking for this query claims a numeric field appears when you create an Exploration world, another says the screen does not yet include one, and a player testing the current build on 8 October 2026 sides with the second. We checked both official documentation sites, Release 0.6.8 and Pre-release 0.7.0-pre.5, and neither documents a world creation seed anywhere. The seed instead lives in a JSON config file, and three independent sources agree on the field and the path: our own World Builder v2 guide, the LogicServers knowledge base and the EmeraldHost docs all point at a Seed value inside the config.json file in a world folder under universe/worlds/ on a dedicated server. This guide separates what is official, almost nothing, from what multiple hosting providers document and agree on, from what nobody has verified. It leads with the warning that matters three days before Chapter 1: the documented way to reseed an existing world is to delete the chunks folder, and EmeraldHost says that permanently removes all builds and progress. Server panel paths and singleplayer saves are not the same thing, the singleplayer location is not officially documented and we could not verify it, and we have run none of this ourselves.

Read this before you follow any seed guide: the documented way to change the seed of a world that already exists is to delete its chunks folder, and that permanently destroys everything built in that world. EmeraldHost says so in its own documentation, verbatim: "Deleting the chunks folder will permanently remove all builds and progress in this world." Chapter 1 ships on Monday 12 October 2026, three days from now, and a lot of people are about to go looking for a seed guide on a world they care about. Set the seed before a world generates, or accept that you are starting over. With that said, here is the direct answer, and it is the opposite of what one of the top ranking pages tells you. Does Hytale Have a World Seed Field? The Direct Answer No. Not in any build that has been publicly documented, and not according to a player who tested it yesterday. There is no seed input box in the Hytale world creation screen. The seed is a value in a JSON configuration file, and on a dedicated server it is a field called Seed inside config.json in your world folder, under universe/worlds/. To use a specific seed you edit that file before the world generates for the first time. That is the whole answer. The rest of this article is the evidence, in three tiers of certainty, because the certainty is uneven: what the official documentation says, which is almost nothing; what three independent sources document and agree on, which is the file, the path and the field; and what nobody has verified, including us. We have tested none of this, and there is a section near the bottom listing every gap. If you came here for a list of good Hytale world seeds, there is exactly one seed value in this article, a player shared it, and we have not generated it ourselves. We are not going to invent a best seeds table. What the Official Hytale Docs Actually Document About Seeds This is the part that explains everything else. We searched both official documentation sites today, in full. The documentation at docs.hytale.com has a version switcher reading Release 0.6.8. The pre-release documentation at pre-release.docs.hytale.com has a switcher reading Pre-release 0.7.0-pre.5. Both ship a full static search index, 3.99 MB on the release site and 4.45 MB on the pre-release site, covering every indexed word on every page. We searched both. Neither site contains any documentation of a world creation seed. Not a page, not a paragraph, not a field reference. The string Seed does occur. It occurs 22 times in each index. Every single one of those 22 occurrences is a world generation node seed rather than the world own seed, which is a different thing: a seed parameter on a generator node or an asset, used inside the world generation graph. The pages carrying them are exactly these eight: /assets/instances /assets/misc/columnrandomscannerasset /assets/misc/noiseconfig /assets/misc/noisemask /assets/misc/pointgrid /assets/misc/proxyedgeactionasset /hytale-generator/positions-provider /hytale-generator/scanner Those are generator and asset reference pages. If you are working in that layer, those seeds are the ones you want, and our guide to the world gen v2 graph system and its nodes is the place to start rather than this article. We also checked for the configuration object by name. WorldConfig occurs zero times in either index. world config occurs zero times in either index. So there is no official page that tells a player how to set a world seed. That is not a complaint, documentation gets written in priority order and this is a niche. But it is the reason this search result page is a mess. When the authoritative source says nothing, third party guides fill the gap, and nothing stops two of them filling it with opposite claims. Which is what happened. If the undocumented state of things surprises you, it is a pattern worth knowing. We wrote up the 0.6.8 docs version arriving with no patch notes for the same reason: the documentation site is the primary source for a lot of server behaviour, and it moves on its own schedule. Two Guides Rank for This Question and They Contradict Each Other Search for how to set a Hytale world seed and you land on pages that disagree on the most basic fact. Here are both, quoted as written, both fetched today. One page says a seed field exists hytale.game, on a page about choosing the seed of your world, describes a seed input in the world creation flow: When you create a new world in Exploration mode (or any other mode that allows it), Hytale will give you the option to manually enter a numeric seed. And it goes further, describing the field behaviour: A field will allow you to type the number of your choice. If you leave it empty, a random seed will be generated. The other page says it does not allthings.how, on a page about finding, using and sharing world seeds in Hytale, says the opposite in two sentences: Hytale's world-creation screen does not yet include a seed input field. The workaround involves editing a configuration file before the world generates for the first time. How to tell which one is right We are not going to accuse either site of anything. A claim about a user interface can simply be wrong or out of date. What we can do is weigh the evidence, and three things point the same way, all three away from the seed field: The official documentation documents no world creation seed at all, on either site, as counted above. A field with no documentation is possible. A field with no documentation, and no mention of a world config anywhere, is less likely. Every hosting provider that documents the seed documents it as a file edit. Two are quoted below, and neither mentions a field in the game. A control panel knowledge base exists because customers ask, and if the answer were a box in the menu, that is what the article would say. A player on the current build describes the menu as not having one. That is the next section, and it is the strongest single piece of evidence here, because it is somebody with the game open. Our verdict, stated as a verdict rather than a fact: the page describing a numeric seed field does not match what the documentation, the hosting providers or a player on the live build describe. Follow the file method. If a seed field does appear in a future build, this article will be wrong and we will say so. A Player on the Current Build Shared a Seed and a Method on 8 October The most useful primary source on this question right now is a Reddit post, because it is somebody with the game actually running. On r/hytale, on 8 October 2026, user u/millionwordsofcrap posted under the Survival flair, titled "Can we share seeds here? Wanted to share mine", with 31 upvotes when we checked. The post body, verbatim: My very first world ever generated has a Kweebec town built directly into the nearest ruins. It's a feature I really love so I thought I'd share it around. Seed is: 1769445206414 If you don't know how to use world seeds in this game, here's a guide for one method. Tested on the latest patch and still works, hopefully they'll eventually incorporate it into the actual world creation menus bc it's a bit fiddly Two phrases there are doing the heavy lifting. "Tested on the latest patch and still works." That is a player on the current build saying the file method functions. Not a lab result and not our test, but a first hand report dated yesterday, which is more than the guides offer. "hopefully they'll eventually incorporate it into the actual world creation menus." That is the clearest statement here about whether a seed field exists. You do not wish for a feature you have just used, and combined with "it's a bit fiddly" it describes editing a file rather than typing into a box. To be explicit about what this is not: it is not a roadmap item. A player hoping Hypixel Studios adds a seed field is a player hoping. No developer has said anything about adding one, we are not claiming they will, and you should discount any article that says it is coming. On the seed value itself, 1769445206414: that player reports a world with a Kweebec town built directly into the nearest ruins, and we have not generated that seed and cannot confirm what it produces. World generation also changes between versions, which we covered in worldgen v1 against v2 and what happens to existing worlds and in Slikey confirming the portal route for old worlds. A seed is an input to a generator, so the same number through a different generator version is not guaranteed to give the same world. Where a Hytale World Seed Lives on a Server Here the sourcing gets much better, because three sources that do not depend on each other agree on the field, the file and the path. Source one: our own World Builder v2 coverage We already documented this file for a different reason. Our World Builder v2 and custom world generation guide covers the top level world configuration at universe/worlds/ plus the world name plus /config.json, and shows "Seed": 12345, inside it alongside DisplayName, Generator, ChunkConfig and GameMode. That article was not about seeds at all, which is part of why it is useful corroboration: the field was documented there as one entry in a config file, not as the answer to a search query. Source two: the LogicServers knowledge base LogicServers publishes an article on finding a Hytale server world seed. Its instructions, in its own words, are "Navigate to your world folder by opening universe/worlds/." and then "Inside your world folder, find config.json and double click it to edit." The example line it shows is "Seed": 1767292261384,. Two things we checked and want to record. That page documents no in game command for reading or setting a seed. And it makes no statement about what happens if you change the seed on a world that already exists, which matters, because that is the question most people actually have. Source three: the EmeraldHost docs EmeraldHost publishes a page on changing the world seed. It gives the path as /universe/worlds/ plus the world name, and for the default world specifically /universe/worlds/default/. It then says "Open the config.json file." The field is Seed and its example line is "Seed": 123456789. It also adds the operational step the other two leave out. It instructs "Stop your server via the dashboard." and warns, verbatim: Stop your server before making changes to configuration files, otherwise they will be overwritten by the server. A running server holds its own view of its configuration and will write it back over yours. Stop it first. What the agreement is worth Three sources, one of them our own earlier work on an unrelated topic and two of them commercial hosting providers with no reason to copy each other, all naming the same path, file and field. That is about as good as third party sourcing gets on an undocumented topic, and it is still not official documentation, so every quote above is attributed to the provider that wrote it. Read This Before You Touch Anything: Deleting the chunks Folder Destroys the World This section comes before the instructions on purpose. Editing the Seed value does not retroactively change terrain that already exists. The documented route to reseeding a world that has already generated is to make the server generate it again from nothing. The EmeraldHost route is to "Delete the chunks folder in the same directory" so that "the world is regenerated with the new seed". And here is what that costs, in EmeraldHost own words: Deleting the chunks folder will permanently remove all builds and progress in this world. Permanently. Every build, every chest, every bit of terrain anyone changed. That is not a reset to a fresh copy of the same world, it is a new world in the same slot. So before you delete anything: Take a full copy of the world folder first, the whole directory and not just the config file. If you are wrong about what you are doing, a copy is the difference between an inconvenience and a loss. Understand that this is the mechanism, not a side effect. The chunks are the world. Removing them is how you get the generator to run again. Prefer creating a new world over reseeding an existing one. If you want to play a specific seed, make a new world with that seed in its config and leave the world you care about alone. Do it with the server stopped, for the reason EmeraldHost gives about configuration files being overwritten by a running server. Three days before Chapter 1, with people reading seed guides in a hurry, this is the most important paragraph on this page. How to Set a Hytale World Seed Before the World Generates This is the procedure as the sources above describe it, for a dedicated server with a control panel. Read the warning section first. Nothing here has been tested by us. Stop the server. EmeraldHost instructs "Stop your server via the dashboard." and warns that configuration files changed while the server is running will be overwritten by the server. Open the world folder. Per LogicServers, "Navigate to your world folder by opening universe/worlds/." Inside that, each world has its own directory. EmeraldHost gives the pattern as /universe/worlds/ plus the world name, and for the default world /universe/worlds/default/. Open the config file. Per LogicServers, "Inside your world folder, find config.json and double click it to edit." EmeraldHost says the same: "Open the config.json file." Find the Seed field. It sits with the other top level world values. Our World Builder v2 coverage shows it next to DisplayName, Generator, ChunkConfig and GameMode, written as "Seed": 12345,. Replace the number. The example values in the sources are plain integers: 12345, 123456789, 1767292261384. Keep the JSON valid, which means a bare number with no quotes around it and the comma structure of the file left intact. Save the file, then start the server. The seed applies when the world generates. If the world has already generated, go back and read the chunks warning. Editing the number on its own will not change terrain that exists. One thing we are deliberately not publishing We saw a secondary source mention an in game route to this, an operator command pair for setting world config. We could not corroborate it anywhere. It is on neither of the two hosting provider pages we checked, and it is nowhere in either official documentation search index. A command that does not exist, typed by somebody who trusts an article, is worse than no answer, so we are leaving it out rather than publishing it with a hedge. If you find a command that works, it did not come from us. A Seed Only Does Anything Before First Generation Every source points the same way here, and it is worth separating what is demonstrated from what is stated. What is demonstrated: the EmeraldHost reseeding procedure requires deleting the chunks folder so the world regenerates with the new seed. Operationally that only makes sense if a seed is consumed at generation time. If changing the number re-terraformed an existing world, there would be nothing to delete. What is not stated: that page does not explicitly say the seed only applies to new worlds. We checked. It implies it through the deletion step rather than saying it. And no official source states it at all, because as established above, no official source discusses world seeds. So treat it as strongly implied by the documented procedure, attributed to that procedure, and not as an official rule. The practical consequence is the same either way: decide your seed before you generate. This is also where seeds meet performance, because the generator is what consumes the seed. A seed that puts a dense, cave heavy, structure heavy area near spawn gives the server more to generate on first load. Our world generation performance optimization guide covers the levers that move generation and chunk load cost, and our coverage of procedural worldgen mods under worldgen v2 covers what happens when the generator is not the stock one, in which case a shared seed value means even less. Singleplayer Worlds Are a Different Thing, and Less Documented This is where most guides on this topic quietly fall over, so we will be blunt. The two hosting provider pages quoted above are dedicated server control panel documentation. LogicServers and EmeraldHost are describing a file tree you reach through a web panel on a server you rent. Their paths are server paths. The Reddit poster is talking about a singleplayer world. "My very first world ever generated" is somebody playing on their own machine. Those are not the same thing, and an article that blends them sends you looking for a folder you do not have. On the singleplayer side, our honest position: we could not verify the singleplayer save location from any primary or official source. It is not in either documentation search index, which contains no world config material at all, and it is not in the hosting provider pages, which are about servers. We are therefore not going to state a path on your local disk as fact. Any guide that gives you a confident local save path is going beyond what is documented. It might well be right, but it is not sourced. What we can say, with the attribution attached: a player on the current build reports that a file based method works, calls it "a bit fiddly", and wishes it were in the world creation menus. That is consistent with a config file existing locally in some form. It is not a path, and we are not going to turn it into one. If you are on a server, you have the corroborated route above. If you are in singleplayer and you find the file, the field name is the same thing to look for: a top level Seed value in a world config, set before the world generates. How to Find and Share Your Hytale World Seed Finding is the easier half, at least on a server, because it is a read rather than a write. The LogicServers article is specifically about finding a server world seed, and the procedure is the first three steps above with nothing destructive in it: open universe/worlds/, go into your world folder, open config.json, read the Seed value. That is it. No command, no tool, no account anywhere. A few notes on sharing one, which are ours rather than sourced: Share the generator alongside the number. The config file has a Generator field next to the seed for a reason. A seed is only meaningful as an input to a specific generator. Say which version you generated on. Worldgen changed substantially between versions, as our v1 against v2 write up covers, so a seed from one build is not a promise about another. Say what you found and roughly where. The Reddit post is a good model: a specific feature, a Kweebec town built into the nearest ruins, near the start. That is a claim somebody else can check. Do not expect an exact match. Nobody has published a compatibility guarantee for seeds across versions or generators, and we are not going to imply one exists. Seed sharing on r/hytale is clearly in its early days, because the post we quoted opens by asking whether it is even allowed on the subreddit. Expect the conventions to settle after Chapter 1. Why There Is No Hytale World Seed Map or Seed Viewer Two of the most common searches here are for a Hytale world seed map and a Hytale world seed viewer, meaning a tool you paste a seed into to preview the terrain before you generate it. If you have played other voxel games, you know the shape of tool being asked for. As far as we can find, no such tool exists for Hytale. We are not linking to one, and we would be cautious about the first thing you find claiming to be one. The reason is structural rather than nobody getting round to it. A seed previewer has to reimplement the game world generation closely enough to produce the same output from the same input, which needs a stable, documented generation pipeline to copy. Hytale generation is a graph of nodes and assets, the layer our graph system and nodes guide walks through, and that layer is moddable, which our procedural worldgen mods coverage gets into. A generator that mods can replace is a moving target for any external previewer, and there is no official world seed documentation to build against in the first place. So the honest answer to where the Hytale seed map is: it does not exist yet, here is why it is harder than it looks, and be sceptical of anything claiming otherwise this early. What This Means for Chapter 1 on Monday Chapter 1 arrives on 12 October 2026. We are not going to tell you what time, because no official time has been published and we are not guessing at one. What is predictable is the behaviour around it. A lot of people will generate a fresh world in the first few days, some will want a particular seed, and the results they find will include a page telling them a seed field exists in the world creation menu. The sequence that goes wrong: generate first, then go looking for how to set a seed, then find the chunks deletion step, then apply it to a world you have already put a weekend into. The order that avoids that: Decide before you generate. Set the seed in the config of a world that does not exist yet. This is the only point at which a seed is free. Do not reseed a world you care about. Make a second world instead. Disk is cheaper than a rebuild. Back up before any file edit, and do it with the server stopped. Expect seed sharing to get better after launch, not before. One player sharing one seed on 8 October is the state of the art today. If you are running a server through the weekend, the seed is one line item on a longer list, and our Chapter 1 server preparation checklist is the full version of that list. Worth reading before Monday rather than during it. Frequently Asked Questions How do I set a world seed in Hytale? Not in the world creation menu, because there is no seed field there. On a dedicated server, stop the server, open config.json in your world folder under universe/worlds/, set the Seed value to the number you want, save, and start the server before the world has generated. That is the procedure LogicServers and EmeraldHost both document, and the field our own World Builder v2 guide shows in that file. Does Hytale have a seed input in world creation? No build that has been publicly documented has one. Neither official documentation site, Release 0.6.8 or Pre-release 0.7.0-pre.5, documents a world creation seed at all. One third party page claims a numeric field appears when you create an Exploration world, another says the screen "does not yet include a seed input field", and a player who used a seed on the current build wrote that they hope the studio will "eventually incorporate it into the actual world creation menus". The weight of evidence is against the field existing. Where is the Hytale world seed stored? In the world config file. On a server that is config.json inside your world folder under universe/worlds/, with the default world at /universe/worlds/default/ per EmeraldHost, and the value is a top level Seed integer alongside DisplayName, Generator, ChunkConfig and GameMode. How do I find my Hytale world seed? Read it out of that same file. LogicServers documents it as "Navigate to your world folder by opening universe/worlds/." then "Inside your world folder, find config.json and double click it to edit." The Seed line is in there. Reading it changes nothing, so this one is safe. Can I change the seed of a world I have already played? Not without destroying it. The EmeraldHost route is to delete the chunks folder so the world regenerates with the new seed, and it states that "Deleting the chunks folder will permanently remove all builds and progress in this world." Make a new world with the seed you want instead. Note that EmeraldHost does not explicitly state a new worlds only rule, it implies it through the deletion step, and no official source states it either. Is there a Hytale world seed map or seed viewer? None that we can find, and we are not linking to anything claiming to be one. A previewer would have to reimplement a generation pipeline that is a node graph, is moddable, and has no official world seed documentation to build against. Is there a Hytale world seed generator? There is nothing to generate. The seed is an integer you choose, and the example values in the documentation we checked are plain numbers such as 12345, 123456789 and 1767292261384. Any number will do, and a random one is what you get if you do not set one. What are the best Hytale world seeds? Nobody can answer that honestly yet, and we are not publishing a table pretending otherwise. We have verified exactly one shared seed, 1769445206414, posted on r/hytale on 8 October 2026 by a player who reports "a Kweebec town built directly into the nearest ruins" near the start of the world. We have not generated it and cannot confirm what it produces. Where are Hytale world seeds shared on Reddit? On r/hytale, and it is early. The post we quoted opens by asking "Can we share seeds here?", which tells you how new the practice is. Expect that to change after Chapter 1. Where is the singleplayer world config on my own computer? We could not verify a singleplayer save location from any primary or official source, so we are not going to state a path. The hosting provider documentation quoted here is dedicated server control panel documentation, and a server path is not a local save path. If you find the file locally, the field to look for is the same top level Seed value. Is there an in game command to set the world seed? We are not publishing one. We saw a single secondary source mention an operator command route and could not corroborate it on either hosting provider page or anywhere in either official documentation search index, so we left it out rather than publish a command we cannot stand behind. Will Hytale add a seed field to the world creation menu? Nobody has said so. A player on r/hytale hopes they will, and that is a player hope rather than a roadmap item. No developer statement about adding a seed field exists that we are aware of, and we are not predicting one. What We Have Not Tested Stated plainly, because this is a topic where the ranking pages contradict each other and confident wording is what caused that. We have tested none of this. No world generated, no config file edited, no server reseeded, no screenshot of a world creation screen. Every procedure here is reported from the source named next to it. We have not generated the shared seed. 1769445206414 comes from a Reddit post dated 8 October 2026. We cannot confirm the Kweebec town built into ruins, or anything else about that world. We did not verify a singleplayer save path. No primary or official source documents one that we could find, so none is stated here as fact. We did not verify any in game seed command. One secondary source mentioned a route, nothing corroborated it, and it is absent from this article rather than hedged. We did not confirm which build the hosting provider pages were written against. Both are third party control panel documentation, every quote from them is attributed, and neither carries an official stamp. We did not open the world creation screen to settle the contradiction visually. Our case against the seed field is documentary: two official search indexes, two hosting knowledge bases and one player report on the current build. No seed map, seed viewer or seed generator tool is linked, because we found none to verify. No Chapter 1 unlock time. The date is 12 October 2026. No official time has been published and we are not inventing one. Everything above came from the source named beside it, read today: two official documentation search indexes with their version strings and sizes, two third party hosting provider pages, one Reddit post with its date and author, and our own earlier article on the same config file. The Bottom Line Hytale has no seed box in the world creation menu. The seed is a Seed integer in the world config.json under universe/worlds/, three independent sources agree on that path and field, and a player on the current build says the file method works and wishes it were in the menus instead. The official documentation says nothing about it. We counted: 22 occurrences of Seed in each documentation search index, all of them world generation node seeds on generator and asset pages, and zero occurrences of WorldConfig or world config. That silence is why the guides disagree, and why the honest version of this answer has to show its sources. The one thing to take away before Monday: a seed is free before a world exists and expensive afterwards. Set it in the config of a world you have not generated yet. If a world already exists, the documented way to reseed it deletes the chunks folder, and EmeraldHost states that permanently removes all builds and progress in that world. Make a new world instead.
